FAQs
Where will i have my drum lesson?
All drum lessons happen at my studio at XSpace Austin. Students regularly drive from Austin, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Cedar Park, and beyond.
The studio is equipped with 2 full drum sets, recording gear, a permenantly stocked mini- fridge, and comfortable seating with WiFi.
You’re also welcome to enjoy the 4th floor lounge that has stunning views of Lake Travis, ample seating, and work areas.
What is Practice Space?
Practice Space is a 3rd party app that allows students to track their practice time, view lesson notes and instructions from me, and earn awards when they reach their goals.
Students can earn gems to purchase items such as gift cards, candy bars, and music gear from the Studio Store (maximum 1 purchase/month).
They can also participate in the Summer Practice Challenge and compete against the rest of the studio to earn a large grand prize ($50 movie gift cards with their favorite candy, or similar)!
Can I perform on a stage?
I would love it if you would! We have at least 2 recitals each year at local Austin venues.
Recitals are always free to participate in and highly encouraged. They’re not required, but they are a lot of fun!
What payment options do you accept?
I accept all major credit cards, Venmo, and cash.
Adults can expect to be playing their first song within a month. Adults typically require more practice than younger students. I make sure to take the time to show my adult students how to practice, and give them clear and actionable steps so they know they’re doing everything they need to to improve.
School of Rock is a great organization, and a few of my students actually came to me from them! Students usually come to me looking for a more experienced teacher who can work on material at a deeper level. My teaching focuses on deep understanding of fundementals and application, a great next step after School of Rock.
How long does it take to learn drums as an adult
How are you different than school of rock or another group music school?
I sure do! You’re welcome to sign up for a free studio tour and trial lesson to see if I’m the right teacher for you.
I specialize in beginning and intermediate students of all ages. About half of my students are adults, and the rest range in age from 10-18.
It depends. If you’re looking to treat lessons as a “class” that you go to once a week to have a great time, then no. But if you’re looking to see significant improvement, you’ll need some equipment. Most drummers start with sticks and a practice pad (to improve hand technique) and then graduate to either an electric or acoustic drum kit.
